1. What is Mocality?
Mocality is a Kenyan business directory designed for the mobile phone. It will expand into many other countries in Africa, becoming the largest business directory in Africa. Mocality offers business owners a whole range of exciting tools to promote and expand their businesses.
2. How do I join/add a business on Mocality?
It’s so easy! Just go to www.mocality.com and follow the instructions. Mocality will guide you step by step through the process.
3. Who is eligible to join Mocality?
Anyone can use Mocality to get information about businesses. If you want to add your business, the business must be in Nairobi and you must have a valid Kenyan mobile number. Mocality will soon be expanding to other cities in Kenya and other African countries.
4. What benefits does Mocality provide?
As a business owner, you get free SMS, a contact list, a free mobile website and a free mobile business card!
5. What phones are supported by Mocality?
Any phone that is WAP enabled will be able to use the WAP site, any phone that is capable of SMS will be able to use the SMS commands.
6. How do people find my business on Mocality?
Mocality features a super quick search box right on the home page enabling potential customers to find businesses by name, product or service. You can also send anyone your mobile business card, which they’ll receive via SMS absolutely free. Included in the SMS will be a link to your free mobile web site, which can be accessed via mobile phone or even PC.
7. Can I edit my business on Mocality?
Of course, you can update your business any time.
8. How do I use my free business tools?
As soon as you’ve added your business, you’ll see a link to your Business Toolkit. Click this link and all your tools will be there ready for you to use!
9. Is my town supported on Mocality?
Mocality is launching in Nairobi, but will soon be expanding to other cities in Kenya and other African countries.
10. How do I use Mocality?
You can use Mocality on your phone or PC by going to the mobile site (www.mocality.com), or by SMS (find SMS instructions here
11. How much do I pay?
Mocality is absolutely free. The only cost to you is the network data charges (if you use your phone), or the internet data charge (if you use a PC).
12. What happens to SMSs I do not use in a particular month?
You can use up to 400 free SMSs per month. They do not roll over into the next month, so your SMS count will be reset to 400 at the beginning of the next month.
13. Can I access mocality via sms?
Yes, send a blank SMS to 2202 for instructions.
14. What is the limit on my contact list of customers and suppliers?
You can store as many customers and suppliers in Mocality as you like.

16. Can I register multiple businesses using the same number?
You are now able to register multiple businesses with the same number.
17. Can my business be de-activated if I do not use it for some time?
No, it will remain on the site until you decide to remove it.
18. Can I send multiple SMSs
You can send up to 400 SMSs per month. If you send the same SMS to 3 people, it counts as 3 SMSs.
19. How do I contact Mocality incase I need assistance?
You can complete the Contact Us form on mocality.com , email us at info@mocality.com or SMS CallMe to 2202 and we will call you back.
20. Can I send free sms’s to other mobile networks?
Yes. The SMSs work across all the cellular networks in Kenya at no cost.
21. How do I enable internet access on my phone?
Contact your service provider, for example:
Safaricom: Send a blank SMS to 445
Zain: Send a blank SMS to 232
Orange: Send a blank SMS to 1234
Yu: Call Customer care

at the standard network rate.
22. What is the difference between Mocality and other business directories?
The listings in Mocality will be far more up to date than any other directory, as we get business owners to look after their own data. Most other business directories get their listings from some other list and never update them. This undermines the value of their data. Mocality, however, will be kept up to date as a natural consequence of business owners promoting and marketing their business on the site.
23. How does Mocality make a profit?
Right now we’re not making a profit at all. The most important thing to us is to create the largest, most relevant business directory in Kenya. We’ll figure out how to make a profit later.
24. Can I send e-mails from my site?
Mocality is not an email product, so no, you can’t send emails from your site. You will need to use your regular email client on your phone or PC.
25. How many pages can I get on my mobile site?
You start off with a single profile page per business, but you can now add pages listing your Products and Services as well as your Specials.
26. What security environment do you use?
We verify each user on the site by their mobile number and all our servers are protected by firewalls.
27. How many business cards can I send?
Get this: you can send up to 2000 business cards for free. They do not get deducted from your free SMS balance. We want you to send your business card to other people.
28. Can I have more than 400 sms’ per month?
At this stage you can’t have more than 400 SMSs per month. If the market shows an interest, we will introduce a scheme where you can pay to top up your SMS balance (it will still be cheaper than using regular SMS if we do).
29. DO I pay anything when a customer finds me on Mocality?
No. It costs you nothing to find or be found.
30. Is my business still hosted on Mocality when my business license expires?
Yes it will still be hosted on Mocality. It’s up to you to be responsible for your listing.
31. How much will it cost me to sms all my contacts via short code?
You can SMS up to 400 contacts for free. If you have more than 400 contacts, only the first 400 alphabetically will receive the SMS.
32. How much do I get charged if I add my business via sms?
Adding your business via SMS is subject to the standard network SMS charges.
33. How do I develop a website on Mocality without technical knowledge?
It’s so easy, just follow the instructions to add a business and we hold your hand right through the process. You give us the information, we develop the site.
34. Can I create a link to my Mocality business profile from my website?
Yes, you may link to your Mocality profile from your own website.
35. How do I opt out from receiving SMS notifications from a business?
SMS “OPTOUT business shortcode” to 2202.
e.g. OPTOUT joespizza
The shortcode is found in the SMS you received from the business.
36. How do I opt out from receiving SMS notifications from Mocality?
SMS “STOP” to 2202. You will not receive any further SMS messages from us.
